Who We Are

Torch of Hope Foundation Inc, (TOH) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization working to foster hope, dignity and dreams in the life of the less fortunate. This foundation is founded and managed by people of Haitian decent who have been blessed by the support of others in the past and have taken the initiative to give back to enable others to achieve their dreams and aspirations in the same manner they were empowered to.

The driving force behind TOH is the desire to share the Word and the Love of God with others and to land a helping hand to people in our communities and around the globe, to empower the less fortunate to fulfill their dreams and aspirations and to reach their maximum potential.

Our board of directors consists of individuals who have been involved with non-profit organizations for many years and are dedicated to help those in needs. Our board members have been helping orphans and other less fortunate children and young adults in Haiti for a number of years on an individual basis. Through TOH, they seek to expand their helping capacity to reach out and to help many more people.

Our Approach

Our approach is two fold. On one hand, we will provide those with no capabilities the tools and resources they need to reach their dreams and improve their life and life in their communities. On the other hand, we will assist those with limited capabilities in acquiring the tools needed to do the same.

Our vision is a world where the less the underprivileged children are equipped and empowered to reach their full God given potential in life. We strive to impact the lives of the children we serve with the Word and the Love of God while promoting hope, dignity, self-sufficiency, better living, community development, and the accomplishment of one's dream and aspirations through education, hard work and reliance on God's mighty hands.

The mission of Torch of Hope Foundation is to foster HOPE in the lives of the less fortunate by sharing the Word and the Love of God with them while landing them a helping hand to fulfill their dreams and inspirations and to improve their life and life in their communities.

-- Our Philosophy

We believe in the dignity of the human being whether rich or poor. We will treat those that we are fortunate to help with the utmost dignity and respect. We will adhere to the following concept: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for one day, teach a man how to fish and you feed him for life”. We will work with individuals and organizations to improve their capability to take care of themselves on their way to being self-sufficient and a source of help to others. We do not believe in creating a lifetime of dependency on us and/or our and resources. We will use our resources in the most efficient manner possible in order to accomplish the most good possible.

The means through which we will accomplish our mission:

We strongly believe that education is one of the primary underpinnings to self-sufficiency in life. Therefore, we will seek to provide individuals that we are fortunate to sponsor with an opportunity to gain the best education possible, from primary education to a professional level. We seek to take care of the whole person, mind, body, and soul. We will endeavor to accomplish this goal through the following avenues:

Build schools where there is a lack of well-equipped schools to provide the students and communities we support with the opportunity to acquire a solid education.
Assist existing schools to improve their standards where necessary and when possible.
Provide students with financial support to attend reliable schools in places where it does not make sense for us to build schools.
Run free clinics as often as our resources allow on an annual or biannual basis.
Long term, we will build clinics in areas where reliable health care is lacking. We will conduct and/or facilitate mission trips to the areas we serve as the opportunities become available to us.
Work to provide safe drinking water to the communities that we serve as the possibilities become available to us.
Work to promote sport and athleticism in the communities that we serve by running summer camps and soccer camps to create activities for young people.
Promote the use of technology in communities that we serve by creating opportunities for our students to be exposed to and get familiar with computer and modern technology to prepare them for a world beyond their small deficient community.
